If you have never heard of a ProductCamp before, it is a five year old "un-conference" for product professionals. By un-conference, it means that ProductCamps are in many ways like traditional corporate conferences, except that:
ProductCamp was started in Silicon Valley by Rich Mironov, and followed up by Austin, Boston, and many other cities. Today, you can find thriving ProductCamps in almost every major city in the U.S., and many cities around the world including London, Vancouver, Sydney, Melbourne, and many more.
One of the best things about ProductCamps is that they are put on locally, which means that if there isn't a ProductCamp yet in your city, you can be the one to start it! Becoming a ProductCamp organizer is a wonderful networking opportunity, and the opportunity to lead your peers, connect with other camp leadership around the world, and gain new skills.
If you are interested in participating in a ProductCamp, you can find the list of upcoming camps in the navigation bar to the left.
If you are interested in organizing a ProductCamp, we have resources for you as well! To help assist the growing community of ProductCamp leaders around the world, three ProductCamp veterans - Paul Young and Colleen Heubaum of Austin, and Jon White of Seattle have founded ProductCamp Global. The goal of PCG is to share best practices, facilitate networking and conversations between camp leaders, and talk about what is working (or not working).
If you are a ProductCamp organizer, or would like to be, please join the PCG GoogleGroup and introduce yourself. We host monthly meetings via voice and/or video, and in-between host discussions via the group to help each other. We look forward to your participation!
- Generally, ProductCamps are free
- ProductCamps are put on "by-and-for" the people who go
- At ProductCamp, there are no passive "attendees," there are only active "participants," meaning everyone is expected to contribute in some way (e.g. presenting, volunteering, setup/teardown)
